I was able to read Tao Lin’s Third Novel in
about twenty minutes.
NB: I read super slow.
Funny thing, Tao Lin’s Third Novel isn’t really a novel at all. It’s a book of poetry, or, I guess, a pdf of poetry, or printed pages of poetry, whatever. But also, it’s not poetry, really. It reminded me a lot of Brandon Scott Gorrell and Sam Pink and Noah Cicero-type speak. Everything is written in the first person and it has a lot of “I want to…” moments.
If you’ve ever read Tao Lin’s tweets, they’re a lot like Tao Lin’s Third Novel, if that’s something you’re into… I guess that was the point. But there are some interesting ideas, like: “I want to become invisible and move to South Korea.” I liked that, for some reason.
But also, there’s nothing really great about Tao Lin’s Third Novel. The idea is interesting but then, that’s about it. Or maybe there is something great and I just don’t get it... Or I’m not the intended audience.

Or, this is how I felt immediately after reading Tao Lin’s Third Novel.
